Derogatie toekennen zou fraude belonen.

Brussel is onjuist geïnformeerd

Derogation

Now’s the time! Soon, the European Commission is going to decide whether the Netherlands will be granted a renewed dispensation to spread more manure than other European countries for the next four years. A ‘no’ to this exemption means a reduction of factory farming – finally!

What is it all about?

The Netherlands has a special position in the EU: it is allowed to spread about 50% more manure than other countries, by means of a dispensation called ‘derogation’. So, derogation causes us to still be lumbered by our current massive livestock industry, and by its disastrous effects on the environment, water quality, public health, and animal welfare.

Manure export

The Dutch livestock industry can only dispose of (contaminated) manure at high costs. Resulting in export to Belgium, Germany and France. Farmers get paid to spread the Dutch manure on their lands. The (pigs)manure is regularly contaminates with antibiotics, heavy metals, waste from XTC, etc.

Manure fraud

Pig farmers have been committing fraud with millions of kilos of manure for years. There are many more pigs – and thereby more manure – than is allowed. There is also fraud with the number of cows that are kept. Renewing the derogation would mean rewarding fraud.

Brussels is falsely informed

The EU is ill-informed about what is happening in the Netherlands. Our government and the farmers’ lobby supply false information or none at all. As a result, the Netherlands was wrongly granted derogation in the past.

What can you do?

Sign our petition! The more people show they oppose derogation the bigger the chance that the European Commission decides the Netherlands should spread less manure. ‘No’ to derogation means considerably scaling down the livestock industry. Now’s the time!

Yes, I want to put a stop to Dutch factory farming. I sign the petition against derogation!

I want to let Brussels know that I am fed up with the manure, the fraud, and everything else that is wrong with Dutch livestock farming!

Aan de Europese Commissie

Geachte Commissieleden,

Hoogachtend,

Petition text derogation

European Commission

Dear Commissioners,

The Netherlands enjoy a special position in Europe because livestock farming is allowed to spread much more manure than other countries (derogation). Despite this dispensation, even the broader conditions of the derogation have been structurally exceeded for many years.  Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that there is large scale fraud with the manure bookkeeping and the registration of cows. The Dutch government has a completely misplaced confidence in the self-regulation of the livestock industry. This has disastrous consequences for the health of Dutch citizens and the environment:

  • people living near livestock farms are ill more often
  • heavy contamination of the soil
  • severe pollution of ground and surface water.
  • High ammonia emissions and fine particulates
  • The lowest biodiversity of de EU

I ask the European Commission not to grant a new derogation to the Netherlands and to put an end to manure pollution. The livestock industry must scale down considerably, because it is too much of a burden for this small and polluted country.

Yours sincerely,

First and last name (will be filled in automatically)
